Clues on the River Parrett Trail

Linda Littledyke

Willow and Basketmaking - Willow is a native tree of the wetland, which is planted along rhynes and its branches are regularly cropped (pollarded). Willow for baskets has to be more carefully grown. In the moors around Stoke St Gregory and Kingsbury Episcopi you will find withy beds. Visit to Willows and Wetlands Centre in Stoke St Gregory to get the full story.

* Find the Willow clue on the trail at the top of Pincombe Drove, where the track leaves the lane.
* Find the Basket making clue at the Willows & Wetlands Centre at the far entrance to the yard.
